The Baumalight RSX580 Log Splitter turns a compatible excavator into a practical tool for breaking down logs and bulky woody material. Its hydraulically powered planetary drive delivers rotational force to a 14-inch-long, 8-inch-diameter splitting cone, allowing the operator to approach material horizontally or vertically as the work area permits. This package includes the RSX580 drive and the complete D002507 splitting cone assembly, and a carrier-matched excavator mount, all included in the listed price.

Two helical spirals guide the cone into the wood, starting at a hardened, replaceable entry tip. Rather than relying on a conventional cylinder and wedge, the rotating cone opens the log as it advances. The 2-inch hex connection securely couples the cone to the drive, while a protective flange helps shield the main shaft seal from debris. Rubber mounts soften impacts at the drive connection and are designed to yield under excessive leverage.

Match the RSX580 to a carrier supplying a recommended 20–45 GPM at 2,500–3,000 PSI; the maximum limits are 45 GPM and 3,500 PSI. A case drain is recommended below 3,000 PSI and required at 3,000 PSI and above. Baumalight specifies a maximum 10-ton excavator for splitter use, with a lower 8-ton limit when operating an optional planer. No separate 12-volt electrical supply is required.

Built for farms, contractors, and property-maintenance crews, the RSX580 helps reduce large pieces of wood before further handling or processing. The drive-and-cone package includes a carrier-matched bolt-on excavator mount. Hydraulic hoses are sold separately. Compatible optional tools can extend the drive's usefulness, but are purchased separately. Splitting results depend on wood species, grain, moisture, and carrier performance; match the carrier to the required mounting and hydraulic specifications.
